Men’s Basketball Signs Theodore Bryant Through Team IMPACT

Massachusetts head coach Frank Martin announced the new team member on Monday afternoon.

AMHERST, Mass. University of Massachusetts men's basketball head coach Frank Martin announced a new team member on Monday, signing 12-year-old Theodore Bryant through Team IMPACT.
 
Theodore, who lives with EOE, was officially introduced at a signing day press conference on Monday, January 23 in the John Francis Kennedy Champions Center. He will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.
 
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children based on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
 
"Team IMPACT is excited to see Theodore officially join the Minutemen," said Danielle Hardee, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT. "We are proud to work alongside UMass Athletics to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."
 
Massachusetts has worked with Team IMPACT for the past 11 years, matching seven children across its men's basketball, women's lacrosse, hockey, baseball, and football teams.
 
"Today was a great day," said Martin. "In recruiting, you're always trying to add value to your team. Theo's spirit, who he is and what he's about, is going to help our team continue to grow and become bigger and stronger."
