Women's Rugby Signs Kaylee Ventura Through Team IMPACT

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University Kathleen Flores' Women's Rugby Head Coach Rosalind Chou announced a new team member, signing 6-year-old Kaylee Ventura through Team IMPACT.
 
Kaylee recently received a kidney transplant on June 28th, 2023, and lives with congenital heart disease as well. She was officially introduced at a signing day press conference this morning. She will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.
 
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
 
"Team IMPACT is excited to see Kaylee officially join the Bears," said Emma Simches, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT. "We are proud to work alongside Brown University, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."
 
Brown University has worked with Team IMPACT for the past 12 years, matching 31 children across its baseball, men's and women's basketball, football, women's gymnastics, men's and women's ice hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's swimming, men's tennis, men's wrestling, women's volleyball, softball, co-ed track and field, co-ed cheerleading, women's rugby, and men's water polo teams.
